Words inside a parenthesis is a title for a series of columns and special reports。
When it says Osaka, Seibu, Nagoya and Hokkaido in the parenthesis, the article was published exclusively in the Osaka, Seibu(Kyushu), Nagoya and Hokkaido editions respectively. When there is an asterisk after Osaka, the story was published in the early editions of the Osaka Edition, but did not survive through the final Edition.
