About Contents

Summary

More than 10,000 photographs are archived, the majority ranging from before and after the Manchurian Incident to after the defeat in war. As well as battlefield photographs, a great many shots are included of citizen's daily life.

Despite the fact that a great many war-related photographs were incinerated after the defeat in war, the database is composed of a collection of photographs made up of material possessing high historical value, having been selected by historical researchers from the more than 70,000 images amassed over half a century by the Asahi Shimbun Osaka headquarters.

Images and photographs are accompanied with bibliographic information, and it is also possible to search and view not just by keyword, but also by category, geographic location or chronological table.
